Cheng Jie currently holds the position of Deputy Dean of School of Arts and Professor of Master Students at the Polytechnic University of Anhui Province, P.R.China. He is one of the top ranked artists in the P.R. of China. He has won many awards at the national and provincial level, including the honor of a portrait commission for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. He provides guest instruction in Florence.
Mr. Cheng’s paintings express his true feeling about modern life by using the traditional oil painting method in a contemporary representational style. His large-scale monochromatic portraits represent a new approach to painting. These portraits show his strong abilities to capture the likeness of the subject as well as express the sincere emotional character of the individuals. His style is both delicate and powerful.
